The Acadia Community Garden and Art Society was created to provide residents with a place to practice their gardening in Calgary's neighborhood of Acadia. We offer affordable garden space rental, community events, arts festivals, picnics, and a connection to like minded individuals in the greater Calgary area. The gardeners are active with a season opening and closing gathering as well as fundraising events throughout the season. The Banff Trail Community Garden was established in 2010 and has been a great place for community members to grow fresh vegetables, get to know community members of all ages, and contribute to creating a beautiful space to be enjoyed by all. The Bankview Community Garden is in Upper Buckmaster Park near 23rd Avenue and 16th Street SW. It was created in 2011 to be a peaceful and productive space where neighbours can meet, relax and grow food for themselves. The objectives of the Gathering Garden are to facilitate, establish, and maintain beautiful, productive and pesticide-free community gardening projects that welcome gardeners and visitors. The plots are 4' x 8' in size and lease for $40.00 per year. Updated July 2020.

We are still new and ever growing. Our hope is to create a space for neighbours together, learn how to grow their own food and spread the knowledge with their loved ones. We make it a priority to serve the local residents with an active BCA membership and in Bowness first, should there be a bed available after registration ends, then it will be open to outside residents providing they purchase a BCA membership. The Braeside Garden Committee was formed in May 2023 with the goal to create an ecosystem sanctuary space next to the BCA community building to improve the environment and make Braeside a more sustainable and enjoyable place to live. This space will be much more than garden boxes. We are designing garden beds to attract pollinators, researching permaculture to rejuvenate natural plant species, building bird houses to attract birds, planting a fruit tree orchard and working with the city to develop a small urban forest and seating areas to sit and enjoy it all. This community garden at the Southwood Library was started in 2012 and has had many successful seasons.The garden is well supported by countless community volunteers. The gardeners share with "Garden Angel" duties which includes daily watering of community beds, library beds, and helping those on vacation. Additional hours are expected to help with socials, distributing compost, mulching, weeding and garbage removal. Volunteering on committees or executive roles are encouraged.
