The garden provides fresh produce and plants and the opportunity for satisfying labour, and serves to create a sense of neighborhood improvement, a sense of community, and a connection to the environment.One of the plots is designated a "Charity Plot" where community garden members grow fresh produce for the Calgary Food Bank and the Spinz-A-Round Program.There are twenty 10'x10' plots which lease for the season on a first-come, first-serve basis. We are still new and ever growing. Our hope is to create a space for neighbours together, learn how to grow their own food and spread the knowledge with their loved ones. We make it a priority to serve the local residents with an active BCA membership and in Bowness first, should there be a bed available after registration ends, then it will be open to outside residents providing they purchase a BCA membership. The FCJ Centre Community Gardens design and construction was graciously donated by JVR Landscape. We are thrilled to offer the gardens for the fifth year to enhance community gardening in the Mission District. Last year all of the plots were picked up quickly! Limited plots are available. This is a very active garden with many events throughout the season, from potluck to fire pit parties, Weeding Wednesdays, and occasional community garden talks. Legacy's Community Garden was built to enhance the community and provide enjoyment for every resident. Donated by WestCreek Developments, this space has been developed with the goal of increasing biodiversity, beautification and community involvement. Gardeners must possess a Residents Association membership (this is open to members of the community of Legacy only) and be up-to-date on fee payments. Updated July 2020.

The Community Garden is a resident driven initiative with over 20 participants working to bring this project to life. The Community Garden successfully completed its first year of planting and harvest in 2023, and we are looking forward to a second year with the addition of a second terrace of gardening beds. We will also have our first accessible garden bed for community members with mobility supports who want to participate. Updated August 2023.

The Parkdale Garden and Gathering Space is about more than gardening – it's about planting the seeds of community. Our aim is to add to the cultural experience and vibrant energy of our community by offering a venue for many kinds of wonderful activities, along with pure gardening. With one of the best established community food forests in the city, The Parkdale Garden and Gathering Space offers bountiful rows of haskaps, rhubarb, currants, and raspberries. Updated June 2022.
