The Bankview Community Garden is in Upper Buckmaster Park near 23rd Avenue and 16th Street SW. The Braeside Garden Committee was formed in May 2023 with the goal to create an ecosystem sanctuary space next to the BCA community building to improve the environment and make Braeside a more sustainable and enjoyable place to live. This space will be much more than garden boxes. We are designing garden beds to attract pollinators, researching permaculture to rejuvenate natural plant species, building bird houses to attract birds, planting a fruit tree orchard and working with the city to develop a small urban forest and seating areas to sit and enjoy it all. In 2014, the Cliff Bungalow-Mission Community Association completed the new Cliff Bungalow Community Garden. This community garden at the Southwood Library was started in 2012 and has had many successful seasons.The garden is well supported by countless community volunteers.
